Invitation to Artists

As you are aware we like to display works by local artists in our restaurant. Not only does this brighten the restaurant walls but also creates a warm and pleasant ambiance. It also helps local artists promote (and hopefully sell) their work. Each year in June/July we invite artists to apply to our panel for hanging space. We currently divide the display space into six separate areas.

• As last year, we would like to offer five of these spaces to an individual artist for a period of 12 months.

• The other space we would like to use to encourage new, up and coming artists

– artists just starting out, artists new to Cromford Mills or artists new to sharing their work with others.  This space would be offered to either one or two artists for a shorter period (e.g. 3 artists for 4 months each).  Who knows, if their work sells they may be invited to apply for a 12-month space or even tempted to hold an exhibition in our Gallery!
Please note that a 25% commission is payable to Cromford Mills on any works sold.
If you are interested in exhibiting in our restaurant please submit six samples of your work – either framed work or photographs of your work, contact details, prices and any background information which may be useful to the selection panel. Please state if you wish to be considered for a 12-month space or are a new artist interested in exhibiting for a shorter period. Or both!
Please submit work to the Visitor Services Department here at Cromford Mill by Monday 1st July 2013. The panel will meet as soon after this date as possible and all exhibitors will be notified as soon as they have made their decision. Exhibitors will be selected on the basis of providing visitors to the restaurant with a visually pleasant and varied environment consisting of work that is of a high standard and is reasonably priced.
