Slinter Cottage
With financial help from the Heritage Lottery
Fund and the Architectural Heritage Fund, The Arkwright Society
building team is now at work repairing and converting Slinter
Cottage.
When it is finished it will provide holiday
accommodation on the first floor and the undercroft will house
a display and interpreting the
water power Slinter Wood and Dunsley Meadows.
Recently grant aid from the Derbyshire Aggregates Levy Scheme
enabled the society to
restore the waterwheel and build a new sluice to the upper
dam.
Work is now proceeding to rebuild and repair
the dam wall and spillways. The silt from the pond above will
then be removed
so that the wheel will once again have a supply of water.
Plans are in place to complete the
restoration of Slinter Cottage by the end of March 2005.
